Morning Air (feat. Cati Eisel)
I’ve recorded this song a million times and never quite liked it, but the other night while Jordan was falling asleep I started playing it and finally figured it out. The basic track (acoustic and vocals) was recorded sitting on the edge of my bed while she was asleep. It makes me really happy that this is the one that worked. My friend Cati did harmonies and made it sound a lot better.
As the morning air poured through the screen
you held my hand, turned back again
the light was instantaneous,
took the back roads home again.
Our little cells and aliens
found their way back in again
they waited for the chance to change,
worked their back down again.
And I know that i’ll change again,
with all the things that I could have been,
you’re what I need.
Theres a magic in the way she moves
tangled in our skinny roots
she spoke with subtle sweet disdain,
never worth a word again.
Should the devil take me back again,
string me up and move my hands
I could only cut those string with you
we could never cover up those roots.
This world, it moves
and paints our frail little faces
red and white
but all that pale, just can’t compare
to the white of your eyes,
of your life.
felt your skin on mine
in the morning light
and all the things that I could have been
are just passing by.
